Antonio Marras saw his first Couture collection debut in 1996, a collection steeped in historical knowledge and tradition. These influences followed him into his initial ready-to-wear collection, which debuted in Milan in 1999. Marras joined Kenzo in 2003 as Artistic Director status. Today Antonio Marras focuses solely on his eponymous label. Although the brand is extremely adapted to more modern settings and audience, it remains true to the original materials and experimental design of the designer’s early career. Antonio Marras likes to mix genres and influences, the silhouettes are enveloping. The collections are clearly narrative, in which stylistic research is laden with symbolic meaning, and where a taste for contrast plays an important role. He burns on fine fabrics, fringed gauze and embroidery that enrich the clothes.
